Letter to John Hancock expressing some thoughts on Lincoln, slavery, the Emancipation Proclamation and Hancock's hope of election to the Maryland Convention. Hancock was an Alabama born lawyer who served as a jurist and member of the legislature in Texas and refused to take oath of allegiance to the Confederacy then left the state to avoid conscription into the army.
